A Christmas greeting on the January date, kept simple.

The greeting is exchanged in two halves, and the second half belongs to whoever is answering. That small structure means the day is never wished at anyone; it is always wished with them.

The table is the same table it has been. Kutia, fish, mushrooms, the dishes counted out even in households where nobody has counted since childhood.

I hope this evening finds each of you where you wanted to be, with the people you wanted to be with, and that the meal lasts longer than planned.

Christ is born.
