Easter 2022
The baskets were still filled and still blessed. That is the whole of what I want to say about this one.
Christ is risen.
I will keep this very short.
The baking happened. Baskets were filled, covered with a cloth, and taken to be blessed — in churches, in courtyards, in places that were not churches, in some cases underground. Priests went to where people were rather than waiting for people to come to them.
Nothing about that year was normal and the form of this day held anyway, which is what I have written about every Easter I have marked here and which was never more literally true.
