An Easter greeting, and a note on the one part of the weekend nobody delegates.
Christ is risen. A blessed Easter to everyone marking it today.
By now I have learned enough to know which parts of this weekend are negotiable. The service can be attended or not. The basket can be blessed at the church or, in some families, simply prepared and left at that.
The paska is not negotiable, and it is not delegated. I have never met a household here that bought one and considered the matter closed. Somebody bakes, usually the same person every year, usually at an hour when nobody sensible is awake, and usually with a strong opinion about how the top should look.
Traditions survive on tasks that one specific person considers theirs. That is more reliable than any institution.
A good table to your family, and my respects to whoever was in the kitchen last night.
