Holodomor Remembrance Day 2010
A candle in the window on the fourth Saturday of November.
A day of remembrance.
Six of these now, and I have settled into keeping the note short.
The only thing I would add is that I have stopped being surprised by how rarely it comes up in conversation the rest of the year. I used to read that as distance. I now read it differently: some things are held quietly by a great many people and brought out once, together, on an agreed evening, and that is a form of remembering rather than an absence of one.
