Happy New Year.

My third here, and the last one I spent as a student without an eye on what came after. In eighteen months I would have a diploma and a job and a completely different relationship with a calendar.

Students measure a year in semesters and everyone else measures it in quarters, and the transition between those two ways of counting is one of the sharper changes in a life. Nobody warns you.

To everyone starting this year still measuring in semesters: enjoy it. The other way of counting is fine too, but it is less forgiving.

A good year to your household.
