St Nicholas Day, 6 December 2023
A greeting on the first December date, and a note on the year the day moved.
A happy St Nicholas Day to every household with a child in it.
This is the first year on the December date, and the practical consequences are the small ones nobody anticipated: parents who had bought the gift for the nineteenth, families where one grandparent is keeping the old date, and a certain number of children who have worked out that a strong argument exists for both.
Those children are, of course, correct, and I suspect several of them will succeed.
Beyond the logistics nothing has changed. The gift is small, the letter is written, and someone will be awake late tonight arranging it.
A good morning to your household tomorrow.
