8 March 2026
A last greeting in this series, and a plain one.
Over twenty years here I have been taught how things work, mostly by women who had no obligation to teach me and did it anyway: an accountant, a customs broker, a school director, a colleague who corrected my grammar for a decade without once being unkind about it.
Whatever I understand about this country, a large part of it came from those conversations.
So the flowers today come with a debt attached, and I am glad of the occasion to say so.
A happy 8 March to all of you.
