Holodomor Remembrance Day 2016

A day of remembrance.

Twelve of these now. I keep these notes short because length would be a kind of intrusion.

What I will say this year is about the grain, since grain is what I write about the rest of the time. In an ordinary week I discuss it as tonnes, prices, storage capacity and freight. Once a year it is worth remembering that in this country the word carries something that no export statistic contains, and that the people I deal with professionally know that even when the conversation is entirely commercial.
