A greeting to the women of Ukraine, at the start of an unusual spring.
The flowers went out as usual this year, into a spring that turned out to be nothing like the usual.
Within weeks the doctors, nurses, pharmacists and teachers who make up most of those professions here were carrying the weight of the months that followed, and doing it while running households that had suddenly acquired a great deal more work.
I am writing this at the start of that year rather than the end, and I will simply say that the greeting is meant more than usually literally.
